I clicked on the checkout button in the tool shed and was taken directly to Amazon where business was transacted. I hope that still had some tie-in with OLF. (Somehow it didn't seem to)

Yeah, if you examine the link closely it will have some obscure mention of the OLF in there. That is what tracks the sale for us.

THANKS!!!

You will be disappointed, perhaps. I got a spindle sander. I wanted something 110 volt and I wanted something comparatively light and I could see a lot of things I could do with the spindle sander, so I got it. I got the Grizzley since it seemed to be the exact same as the JET but about 200 cheaper. I'll bet they are both made in the same Chinese factory. The edge sander may have to wait for the new workshop.

JOhn, did you get the little one or the big one? I heard that the small ones had some issues with the spindle not being perpendicular to the table. You'll have to check it when you get it if so. The bigger one is a really nice tool though. Good move. If I had the $ for the Grizzly I would have bought it instead of the benchtop Jet.

I got the big one. It had a best value award from Woodworker magazine. That seemed good. And it really does look just like the JET except that it's green instead of white.

I'll vouch for the big grizzly oscillating spindle sander. The one we have is great. Wish I had an edge sander to go with it... but I don't so I make due ;)

Have fun cleaning the packing grease off the table and inserts.. then cleaning it off yourself.. then just burn the cloths your wearing it's not coming out of those new jeans

John I'm not dissapointed at all. I have a spindle sander but just a cheap Ryobi. Let us know how you like the Grizzly.

John, is that the G1071? I like that one because the spindles are 6" long.

No I have the same ryobi that Bob has. It has worked pretty well but it is starting to wear a little and I am going to have to replace it one of these days. I use it a lot for various jobs so I'd hate to be without it.

Actually, doesn't the G1071 have 9" spindles? That's the one I wanted but couldn't afford at the time. It's supposed to be a great unit. My spindle sander has only a 6" spindle. I guess I have Spindle Envy!Don Williams38644.3759837963

Hey Brock,

If we go to the OLF Tool Store, and end up at some obscure link, does it still retain the coding for the OLF to get credit?

It depends. If you buy tools after coming to the site we get the credit. If you return to the Amazon home page and use the search function we do not.

There are lots of rules.

If you see something you want and it is not on the list let me know and I will add it.

I have lots more sections to add -- particularly with respect to supplies (sandpaper, blades, etc.) along with a few other categories of big tools.

How about books? :)

I just bought about $100 bucks worth of tool/guitar books from Amazon.

Two words.... Japanese Chisels.
I'm looking at some from Japan Woodworker (no, not THOSE) and possibly these. If you can get those linked somehow, that would be cool!Don Williams38645.3141666667

Don,
you don't actually use chisels like that. You place them in a glass case so
the drool won't rust them.

Actually, I was planning on actually using them. I have a cheap set of Marples blue-handled chisels, which aren't great, but decent. I have my Sorby 1" paring chisel which gets nice and sharp, but dulls instantly upon hitting the wood. And I've been dying for a set of these chisels for a long time. So I figure I'll buy one every other month or so until I get the ones I want. And guess what's going on my Christmas Wish List for my wife to get me?

I build mediocre instruments, I may as well at least have some great tools to do it with.

Sorry Don. Amazon doesn't have a relationship with these guys. Not yet anyway.

Nice chisels though.

The books.... if you bought them by searching from the search box on our site, then yes. We get credit. I am going to put up a book area at some point too. Lots to do.
